Replacing a pain drug is a headache for Fibromyalgia sufferers.

According to the American College of Rheumatology, anywhere from 6 to 12 million Americans suffer from Fibromyalgia with 75% of the sufferers being women. Most sufferers have relied on over the counter medication, but due to drugs like Vioxx having been withdrawn from the market with much media speculation, there is very strong interest in natural pain relief remedies.
Fibromyalgia means pain. Agony experienced in muscles, ligaments and tendons - the soft tissues of the body. People have described the pain as deep muscular aching, throbbing and shooting or stabbing pains. There may also be a burning sensation. Urgent pain relief is necessary to be able to function normally.
The current treatments available are:
1) NSAIDS (NonSteroid Anti-Inflammatory Drugs such as Aspirin, and Ibuprofen) Vioxx was also a much used medication before it was withdrawn from the market,
2) Narcotics. Although narcotics offer greater relief, patients are concerned about the potential addictive or other possibly unpleasant side effects and therefore, would prefer to find a natural pain relief remedy.
Kristina Mahar, a 58-year old housewife from Massachusetts with Fibromyalgia, has not been able to sleep very much over the last few years owing to the intense pain. Neither has she been able to drive or enjoy working in her garden.
