What is Pain?05/09/2007 According to the Webster dictionary, one of the definitions of pain is: “A basic bodily sensation induced by a noxious* stimulus, received by naked nerve endings, characterized by physical discomfort (as pricking, throbbing, or aching), and typically leading to evasive action.” (* Noxious: a : physically harmful or destructive to living beings b : constituting a harmful influence on mind or behavior) So, it appears that we have a definition of pain… but what to DO about that pain. Well, the definition says one will typically take evasive action. We want to get RID of the pain. How do we get rid of pain safely? Do we just cover up the cause of the pain with a new wonder drug? Now that the pain is gone, does that mean that the cause is gone? Yesterday, I spoke to a friend of mine who was complaining about pain in his back. He had fallen (hard) and gone to the Emergency Room. The doctor there said that nothing was broken. The doctor recommended pain pills to relieve the pain. Oh great! Pain is our body’s way to let us know that SOMETHING IS WRONG!!! HELP! HELP! DO SOMETHING! That is what pain is…a signal that something IS wrong. You need to find out WHAT is wrong. You need to find the source of the pain and get rid of the source it, not just cover it up. So, if something is wrong and your body is in pain and your doctor can only recommend taking a pain pill, then perhaps it is time to consult with another doctor. Meanwhile, you’re still in pain and need to take the edge off of it while seeking a second opinion…..What do you do? Find a natural pain relief remedy, something that won’t mess with your mind so that you can think clearly while seeking the correct long term solution. Judy Cutler, a respected nutritionist and developer of “Naturally Painless,” a natural pain reliever, says: “There are a number of solutions available in the health care field for determining the source of pain if you, yourself don’t know the cause of it. These include alternative MDs, chiropractors and naturopaths. They can find and remedy the cause of the pain, which is the ultimate solution to the problem. In the meantime, a natural pain relief remedy that can be applied directly to the area of pain is your safest alternative for immediate relief. Look for a product with natural ingredients.” In one of Aesop’s Fables, the Mouse helped the Lion by taking the thorn from his paw, thus bringing the Lion relief from pain. However, since helpful mice are hard to find, a good chiropractor, holistic doctor, or naturopath are available…and a topical, natural pain relief remedy can give you safe, effective relief in the interim.
